A série "Phantasy Star" tem uma história de 18 anos, desde que foi lançado para o Master System.
Depois de uma modesta versão online prejudicada pelo fim prematuro do videogame Dreamcast, a Sega quer reviver o seu RPG lendário.
"Phantasy Star Universe" conta a história do jovem Ethan, um guerreiro da organização Guardian, a polícia galáctica.
Ele é comandado por Karen, que, apesar de ter a mesma idade de seu companheiro, ocupa um posto de liderança dentro da organização.
As longas orelhas longas de Karen denunciam sua origem: ela é uma newman, uma das raças que compõe o universo de "Phantasy Star".
Além de humanos, haverá também ciborgues e raças híbridas com animais.
Com um clima similar "Star Wars", as armas de Ethan incluem armas lasers e espadas de plasma.
O atual episódio tem como cenário o sistema solar composto por três planetas, cada um com ambientes variados e muitas surpresas.
A aventura de "Phantasy Star Universe" começa com a invasão de misteriosos alienígenas, que realizaram um ataque devastador a uma colônia espacial durante as comemorações do centenário da estação.
Usando de ataques massivos, esses seres receberam o nome de Seed.
